Matthew began his hospitality journey by working at a summer job in a 4-star hotel. After completing his studies at the Institute of Tourism Studies in hospitality management, he later attended the ADVANCE Programme Management Diploma at the Institute of Hospitality in the U.K. His career began when he joined the pre-opening team at the Grand Hotel Excelsior. Matthew has worked at some of Malta’s most established companies, including Excelsior, Corinthia, and Radisson Hotels. and a few other individual outlets as part of a group of companies. This change in environment has taught him to adapt and manage different food and beverage concepts, from fine to casual dining. He had the opportunity to introduce new food and beverage concepts to Malta. As a member of the Maltese Bartenders Guild, he has held various roles, such as Secretary & Vice President, since 2012 and was appointed President in 2018. He co-founded the Bartending Academy and served as a director and instructor. As President of the M.B.G, Matthew has participated in the annual I.B.A. Championships. Currently, he occupies the role of Operations Manager within a food and beverage establishment with an Asian concept.
