Validation of non-formal and informal learning in the building and construction industry

Validation of non-formal and informal learning (VINFIL) is a process, which identifies, assesses, and formally certifies the knowledge, skills, and competences which individuals develop throughout their lives by means of participation in non-formal and informal learning as per National Occupational Standards.

Learning Works is entrusted by The Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA) to assess the candidate competence and guide the candidate how to proceed in applying to get knowledge, skills and competence recognised formally if the candidate is successful in the assessment carried out by our technical experts within the Job Occupational Standard. Candidate who are interested to apply for VNFIL must either collect the application form from Learning works or download the application from the Learning Works website.

Application Process

1. Submission of Application 

All applicants must provide the following documents together with the application form:

  • ID Card
  • Curriculum Vitae (Including Profile Photo)
  • Updated Jobsplus Job History (At least 3 Years of Experience by Law).
  • Images of work related job experiences within the field
  • Reference Letter

2. Verification of documents

Documents submitted by applicants will be verified by Learning Works.

3. Assessment

This Assessment will consist of an interview and on the job assessment as per Policy on the Principles and Mechanisms of the Validation of Non-Formal and Informal Education (VNFIL).

4. Certification

A Certificate together with a Skill Card will be awarded to successful applicants.

Assessment

Candidates will be assessed through validation of informal and non-formal training or education against the National occupational Standards in the Building and Construction Industry. The National Occupational Standards are made up of knowledge, skills. Learning outcomes leading to a competence with the building and construction Industry identified by the sectoral skills committees, which are pegged within the Malta Qualification Framework (MQF) in line with the European Qualification Framework (EQF).
